The AD77 motherboard from DFI is one of the new VIA KT400 chipset equipped boards that are currently entering the market. I hadn't heard of DFI before reviewing this board and was keen to see how the board performed. DFI are more from an OEM background but simply from this boards' packaging it is clear to see where the board is marketed towards.

Motherboard Box

As mentioned in numerous articles the KT400 doesn't have a major performance advantage over its previous incarnation, the KT333, but its does however have some performance gain as well as a feature set that is simple outstanding. The different manufactures and designers of the board's make the decision of which features to include, hence the variety and competitive market that exists.

The correct DDR ram that runs at 400 MHz (on KT400 based motherboards) isn't officially out, and not even officially supported by some boards however it can be bought from manufactures like Corsair and Mushkin. More will follow on the running of 400 MHz ram and the mis-understanding of benchmarking against DDR333 motherboards.
